Iranian woman filmmaker Marjan Riahi’s documentary titled Iranian Ninja has been selected to contend for awards at the 21st Hot Docs film festival in Canada.
Produced by Iran’s Documentary and Experimental Film Center, the film is scheduled to be presented at the Formal section of the festival that will be held in Toronto.
Riahi’s debut screen creation represents the struggles of an Iranian martial instructor Khatereh Jalilzadeh who teaches Ninjutsu to young girls in Tehran.
The film is to be showcased within three-screening programs on April 30, May1 and 2 at the competition section of the short documentaries category.
Some 33 short documentaries from different countries will be vying at the section.
The 2014 Hot Docs film festival kicked off on April 24 and will run until May 4.
