Iran mulling visa-free entry for China, Azeri citizens

20 Apr 2014 - 13:12

Tehran, April 19, IRNA – Iran is mulling a decision to cancel visa requirement for citizens of China and the Azerbaijan Republic, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia-Pacific Affairs Ebrahim Rahimpour said on Saturday.
He told IRNA that Iran is preparing to cancel visa requirement for the Chinese and the Azeri citizens, but, no agreement has been made with China and Azerbaijan Republic yet.

He made it clear that for the time being citizens of the two countries need to get visa before travel to Iran.

Rahimpour expressed concern about arrest of the Iranian tourists in Georgia for possessing unlawful materials due to lack of knowledge about the Georgian law banning codein-acetaminophen tablets and noted that the Iranian tourists should get to learn the rules and regulations of the destination country and the prohibited items.

It’s important to know that even if an item is generally permitted, it may be subject to prohibition in the destination country, the senior diplomat said.
