TEHRAN, April 19 (MNA) – Iran’s Parliament speaker has said family provides the major base for the Islamic society.
Ali Larijani who was addressing the meeting of Parliament’s women employees on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Lady Fatima Zahra answered to a number of questions made by the attending women.
The questions revolved around the woman employees working conditions and the non-existence of a mechanism to promote females in the Parliament hierarchy of jobs; a general reluctance to appoint female employees to managerial positions; and the shortness of maternity leave for women.
Larijani first congratulated the attendants on the birth anniversary of Lady Fatima Zahra and also of Imam Khomeini (RA) and expressed hope that the ‘heavenly breaths of Lady Fatima Zahra’ would bestow bounty on the attending women’s lives.
The speaker of the Parliament quoted Imam Hassan Asgari (as) to have told that Imams were the proofs of God for the men and that Lady Fatima Zahra0, who was called ‘the pure,’ was God’s proof to Imams and had ‘honor and dignity over the world.’
In response to criticism mounted by women attending the meeting, Larijani told that “according to our statistics112 women work in the Parliament and only 10 people are paid in hourly base.”
