Minister: Iran not confirming news of border guard martyrdom

7 Apr 2014 - 17:12

Tehran, April 7, IRNA – Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli said Iran has not confirmed news of martyrdom of an Iranian border guard taken hostage into the Pakistani soil by a terrorist group.
The minister told IRNA on Monday that he does confirm the news that one of the five guards named Jamshid Danaeifar was martyred.

He said even the four others released from captivity say they have no information about the fate of their fellow soldier.

The minister reiterated that there are no authentic documents available to prove the news.

According to the minister, the Pakistani government is responsible for following up the case while Iran too continues efforts in this regard.

Five Iranian border guards (Sajjad Zahani, Mohammad Nezami, Ramin Hazrati, Jamshid Teimouri and Jamshid Danaeifar) were abducted by members of the Jeish-ul-Adl terrorist group in Jakigour region of Iran’s Sistan and Balouchestan province on February 8 and then taken to Pakistan.

Danaeifar, 27, was killed by terrorists late March.

The other four abducted border guards were back home on Sunday.
