Iran will fight terrorism to bitter end: Rouhani

6 Apr 2014 - 22:15

Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani says the Islamic Republic pursues a resolute, principled and unchangeable stance in its fight against terrorism and violence.

In a message on Sunday, President Rouhani extended his congratulations to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and the Iranian nation on the release of four of the Iranian border guards abducted by Jaish-ul-Adl terrorist group.
“This success once again showed that the Islamic Republic of Iran…will resist all political and propaganda pressure until the complete disgrace and defeat of extremists and all their foreign supporters,” the Iranian president said.
He added that support of the Iranian people and all religious and political figures including Shia and Sunni Muslims for the country’s firm anti-terrorism stance proved that terrorists cannot use religious differences to create rifts.

Rouhani expressed hope that terrorism and violence would be eradicated in the Middle East region.

He called on all Iranian officials to make every effort to clarify the fate of the remaining abducted border guard.

Jaish-ul-Adl terrorists kidnapped five Iranian border guards in Jakigour region in Iran’s southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan on February 6 and took them to the Pakistani territory.

The group later announced it had executed one of the guards. Iran invited Pakistan’s ambassador to Tehran in connection with the announced killing.

In a message on Sunday, Iran’s Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli said that efforts by security and diplomatic bodies and locals have borne fruit and four of the five abducted border guards have been freed and reunited with their families.
