17 Mar 2014 - 15:28

Nowruz, meaning “new day” in Persian, marks the first day of spring and the beginning of the new year in the Iranian calendar.
As the countdown begins to Nowruz, Iranians prepare to welcome the new year by cleaning their houses and buying new clothes, new furniture, etc.

Shahriar Azimi takes you to the shops, bazaars and streets of Tehran to show the atmosphere of the country these days.

Separately, the 9th International 100-Second Film Festival brings together filmmakers and artists from across Iran and the world to present 100-second or shorter films to the audience. The films are presented in three sections: fiction, animation and documentary. Hoda Lezgee tells you more.

Meanwhile, Gisoo Misha Ahmadi meets Iranian national women’s futsal team, which claimed the silver medal at the 2013 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in South Korea, even though they lost the final match to powerhouse Japan.

Chitgar is one of the greatest and most popular parks in Tehran. It has wonderful things to enjoy, from a manmade lake to a great park for picnicking and a wonderful bike track for speed enthusiasts. It is actually a forest park that covers over a dozen square kilometers of land. It has a horseback riding ranch, a long cycling ramp and much more, all within easy access because of the subway station leading right to it. Reza Nayebi takes you to the heart of this amazing place.
