TEHRAN (FNA)- Deputy Managing Director of Iranian Railway Hossein Ashouri said the Iran-Afghanistan railroad will be completed by the end of the next Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2015).
"It is hoped that Khaf-Harat path would be accomplished by next year, and load and cargo would be transferred via railroad directly," Ashouri told the Iranian students' news agency.
Iran is one of the most important donors to Afghanistan which has kept its promises to help to the reconstruction of the war-hit country.
Iran has built some roads, power transmission lines, and border stations, among the other infrastructure projects which would better link the two nations.
Iran has also contributed more than $50mln annually to Afghan anti-narcotics efforts in the last decade.
