Iranian lawmakers to visit Geneva for IPU meeting

TEHRAN (ISNA)- An Iranian parliamentary delegation plans to visit Geneva mid March for the 130th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) conference.
The meeting is scheduled for March 14-21, a member of Iranian National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Hossein Sobhani-Nia told ISNA, adding the Iranian team would attend the IPU meeting committees, including political committee, international security, sustainable development, women, democracy and human rights and IPU relations with the UN.

He also said the Iranian delegation would outline the Islamic Republic's positions on different international issues in the meeting.

Sobhani-Nia also noted that an urgent article will be ratified in the meeting which includes Palestine, Syria, Muslims' killing in Central Africa and other parts of the world.

The member of presidium board of Iranian parliament said the team would also defend the urgent article.

The Inter-Parliamentary Union of the OIC member-states is composed of the OIC member-states’ parliaments. It was established in Iran on June 17, 1999, with its head office situated in Tehran.

The IPU which was founded with the membership of some 52 Islamic parliaments and it has established close cooperation with 22 international organizations.
