Minister: Iran set to attract foreign investors in upcoming FAO meeting

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Minister of Agricultural Jihad Mahmoud Hojjati announced that he and his colleagues will try to attract foreign investors to Iran’s agriculture sector during their presence in the upcoming FAO meeting in Rome, Italy.


“Persuading European investors to invest in Iran’s agriculture sector will be among our important objectives in the (upcoming) 32nd Meeting of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Italy,” Hojjati said in Tehran on Monday.

Hojjati will head a high-ranking delegation to Italy next Tuesday to attend the 32nd FAO Meeting.

He explained that the Iranian delegation will also pursue preparing the grounds for the promotion of Iran’s agricultural exports to Italy during his visit to Rome.

Among his other programs, the Iranian agricultural Jihad minister will also meet FAO Director General José Graziano da Silva during his next week visit.

The 32nd FAO conference is slated to be held in Rome on Feb 24-28.

FAO is a subsidiary of the United Nations (UN) and its main objective is to achieve food security for all to make sure people have regular access to enough high-quality food to lead active, healthy lives.

FAO’s three main goals are the eradication of hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition; the elimination of poverty and the driving forward of economic and social progress for all; and, the sustainable management and utilization of natural resources, including land, water, air, climate and genetic resources for the benefit of present and future generations.
