EU supports Iran’s presence in Syria talks

Nasim– Belgian Foreign Minister Didier Reynders told journalist that his country and EU support Iran’s participation in talks over Syria’s crisis.
However, the UN has withdrawn an invitation for Iran to the January 22 Geneva 2 peace conference after American and French officials explicitly opposed Iran’s attendance in the talks.

Speaking in a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart here in Tehran, Reynders stressed that EU welcomes Iran efforts in aiding Afghan asylum seekers.

He noted Iran’s crucial role in solving the regional crisis, adding that Iran has be successful in fighting drugs.
