An Iranian lawmaker says the Islamic Republic, if need be, has the capability to hunt down the members of the so-called Jaish-ul-Adl terrorist group in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of Iran’s Majlis Evaz Heidarpour said on Saturday that Iran has, as a first step, asked the governments of Pakistan and Afghanistan to arrest the members of the Jaish-ul-Adl terrorist group and extradite them to the Islamic Republic.
In the next step, Heidarpour added, the government in Islamabad has been asked to secure the release of the five Iranian border guards and transfer them to Iran.
The Iranian lawmaker added that the aforementioned governments have been lastly asked to take the necessary measures to secure their borders.
“Otherwise,” Heidarpour said, “the Islamic Republic has the capability to enter these countries’ soil to save the hostages if necessary.”
Five Iranian border guards were abducted in Jakigour region of Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan Province on February 6 and taken to Pakistani territory.
The so-called Jaish-ul-Adl terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the abduction.
On October 25, 2013, Jaish-ul-Adl killed 14 Iranian border guards and wounded six others in the border region near the city of Saravan in Sistan and Baluchestan Province.
In February 2013, Iran and Pakistan signed a security agreement, under which both countries are required to cooperate in preventing and combating organized crime, fighting terrorism and countering the activities that pose a threat to the national security of either country.
