Tehran, Feb 19, IRNA – Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said Wednesday the Iranian parliament supports expansion of relations with Uganda.
Larijani made the remarks in a meeting with his visiting Ugandan counterpart Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 9th Session of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States (PUIC) that kicked off in Tehran Tuesday morning.
Referring to the presence of Ugandan delegation in Tehran gathering as important, Larijani said Kampala plays effective role in achieving the PUIC objectives.
For her part, the Ugandan speaker said Iran’s presidency over the PUIC will lead to consolidation of solidarity among the Islamic nations.
PUIC presidency was officially handed over to Iran from Sudan during the first day of the PUIC gathering in Tehran.
