Nasim– A senior Iranian parliament member has condemned US statement on imprisoned Iranian oppositions saying that the fate of the two leaders of the so-called ‘Green Movement’ in Iran only be determined and decided upon by Tehran. “the US should better worry about the large number of its inmates,” he said in an interview with Nasim.
On February 15, the US Department of State issued a statement calling for immediate release of Iranian opposition leaders who are under house arrest since the 2009 post-election riots.
Labeling the US statement as clear violation of the Iran’s national sovereignty, Iran’s Chairman of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi underlined the large number of American inmates with regard to its population and advised American to be worried about their own domestic issues than interfering in other country’s affairs.
He also stressed that only Iran can decide about the fate of the Green movement leaders and no other country is allowed to have a say in this regard
