A deputy commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF) Manuchehr Yazdani has announced on Saturday that Iran is manufacturing 2 new pilot training jets, 'Azarakhsh' and 'Kowsar 88'.
Iranian Air Force Deputy Commander for Training General Manouchehr Yazdani noted that the aircrafts conceptual studies and designs have already been completed, and they come into operation in the near future like 'Saeqeh' (Thunderbolt).
In September 2011, the Iranian Air Force's first squadron of home-made Saeqeh fighter jets started operations during the large offensive air drills code-named "Fadaeeyan-e Harim-e Vellayat III" in Northwestern Iran.
Referring to the country's good position to provide training aircrafts, Manuchehr Yazdani said with the help of Industry and the Department of Defense, some projects are now underway to provide training jets.
IRIAF Deputy Commander added "given the sanctions, it is difficult to import necessary parts of aircrafts, so we should rely on our existing knowledge."
However, he said irrespective of the western sanctions against Iran, the country is facing no problem for procuring training jets.
In the recent years, Iran has made great achievements in the defense sector and gained self-sufficiency in essential military hardware and defense systems.
Iran has repeatedly assured other nations, especially regional neighbors, that its military might poses no threat to other countries, insisting that its defense doctrine is merely based on deterrence.
