29 Jan 2014 - 17:17

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's Deputy Police Chief Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Radan said on Wednesday that the security status along Iran's borders is in desirable conditions, yet the country's border guards will be further reinforced by using balloons for aerial controlling.

Addressing a national conference on police performance, Brigadier General Radan said that the Iranian police gained necessary permissions to carry out aerial controlling operations in border areas with the use of balloons.

He added that the bullet-proof balloons are equipped with surveillance cameras which could be monitored from police headquarter.

The commander went on to say that the balloons can also be used to control the country's road traffic.

In mid-November, Iranian Police Commander Brigadier General Esmayeel Ahmadi Moqaddam vowed tough battle against any kind of terrorist activity along the country’s Eastern borders.

General Ahmadi Moqaddam reiterated that the law enforcement forces are determined to confront any attempt by outlaws and illegal migrants to infiltrate the country's borders, and said, “We will do our best to maintain security in the region.”

The Iranian police commander said that he and his colleagues prioritize border control and intelligence gathering in Sistan and Balouchestan province.
