Minister: Iran, Russia keen to widen ties

18 Jan 2014 - 15:11

TEHRAN (FNA)- Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said that Tehran and Moscow are resolved to do their best to consolidate their trade volume in all domains.

“We don’t have any restrictions here and, of course, we are looking at ways to widening trade volumes,” the Russian minister underlined.

The Russian minister said Tehran and Moscow can develop “trade and economic cooperation with peaceful intentions – like shipments of food, equipment (and) raw materials”.

On Wednesday, Iran's Ambassador to Moscow Mehdi Sanaei and Novak, in a meeting in the Russian capital, stressed the need for the rapid implementation of the agreements already signed by Tehran and Moscow in the energy sector.

During the meeting, the two officials reviewed the latest status of mutual energy cooperation between their countries, and called for the implementation of the agreements already reached in the field.

Sanaei voiced Iran's readiness for making joint investments in oil and gas fields, import and export of oil equipment and finalizing economic documents between the two countries.

Novak, for his part, expressed hope that the bilateral energy cooperation between the two friendly states would witness further enhancement.

Iran and Russia have vast cooperation in different fields, especially in political and economic spheres.

The two states also enjoy special positions on the international scene and have long had constant and regular consultations on key regional and global issues.
