TEHRAN (FNA)- Senior Iranian and Slovenian lawmakers in a meeting in Tehran stressed the necessity for the development of parliamentary relations to further reinvigorate the political and economic ties between the two countries.
“Widening parliamentary exchanges between the Iranian and Slovenian parliaments can pave the ground for enhancing the level of political, economic and cultural ties between the two countries,” Head of Iran-Slovenia Parliamentary Friendship Group Vahid Ahmadi said in a meeting with his Slovenian counterpart Ivan Vagrin on Monday.
He also described the political will of the two countries’ high-ranking officials as a proper ground for growing ties between Tehran and Ljubljana.
Vagrin, for his part, underlined parliaments’ important role in activating the abundant economic and cultural potentials of the two states.
Iran and Slovenia have expanded bilateral relations and mutual cooperation in different fields in recent years.
Former Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi, heading a high-ranking delegation, paid a visit to Slovenia in July 2011.
During the daylong visit, the Iranian foreign minister inaugurated the Islamic Republic of Iran's Embassy in Ljubljana.
