Former foreign secretary Jack Straw has led a delegation of British politicians to meet a group of Iranian MPs in Tehran.
It is hoped the five day tour will improve relations between the two countries.
Mr Straw told the Today programme that the delegation was "very well received in Iran", and that there was "a lighter atmosphere" than when he last visited the country 12 years ago.
He explained that Iran wants a "proper relationship" with the West and that President Rouhani is "committed to change".
First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Friday 10 January 2014.
