7 Jan 2014 - 12:53

Tehran, Jan 7, IRNA – Spokeswoman for the Foreign Ministry said Tuesday that Iran is ready to cooperate with Lebanon to find out the exact reason for the death of the terrorist Majid al-Majid.

Marziyeh Afkham made the remarks in a news conference on reviewing dispatch of an Iranian delegation to Beirut to examine various aspects of death of al-Majid who was responsible for suicide bombing in front of Iran?s Embassy in Beirut, Lebanese capital, in November 2013.

After the explosion, Iran followed up the case and held talks with Lebanese officials, then al-Majid, the main culprit of the terrorist act, was captured, Afkham noted.

But, soon after his capture he died, she said.

Afkham said Justice Minister Mostafa Pour-Mohammadi, in a letter to his Lebanese counterpart, has voiced Iran?s readiness to send a judicial team to probe into the case.

The letter called for arrest of all involved in the explosion in front of the Iranian Embassy, she noted.

Iran maintains its right to follow up the case, stressed Afkham.
