Tehran, Jan 4, IRNA – Head of Iran-Italy parliamentary friendship group said Saturday that expansion of bilateral cooperation is on the agenda of the visiting Italian delegation.
Javad Heravi told IRNA that the visit to Tehran of the Italian delegation led by Chairman of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee Pier Ferdinando Casini is aimed at preparing the ground for further parliamentary relations between the two nations.
The Italian delegation, which arrived in Tehran late Friday, will hold talks with Majlis (Parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani on the issues of mutual interest on Saturday.
Members of the delegation will visit central and southern Iranian provinces of Isfahan and Fars on Sunday.
Italians’ parliamentary visit is taking place at the invitation of Chairman of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi.
On December 21, Italian Foreign Minister Emma Bonino travelled to Tehran and held talks with senior Iranian officials on various economic, cultural and scientific issues.
It was the first visit to Tehran of a European foreign minister after 10 years.
