Tehran, Jan 3, IRNA – Iran is ready to assist the friendly nation and government of Lebanon in these perilous times in campaign against the plots hatched by the terrorist, Takfiri, and Zionist circles against that country, the Foreign Ministry announced here on Friday.
The Islamic Republic of Iran is standing by the side of the Lebanese nation and government and announces its readiness to offer any kind assistance to help Lebanon to pass through these highly perilous times and to emerge victorious in campaign against the notorious plots hatched by the Takfiri terrorists and by the Zionists and their agents.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran appreciates the efforts made by the Lebanese government and particularly by the Lebanese police and military forces mightily, such as arresting the terrorists involved in the twin bomb explosions in front of the Iranian embassy on November 19th, 2013,” reads the statement.
It further stresses the need for effective and comprehensive regional and international cooperation to uproot the malicious terrorism phenomenon.
“This necessity is not an optional choice, but the only existing option aimed at preserving the internal security and stability of the regional countries, and safeguarding the regional peace and security in confrontation with this phenomenon which is crippling rapidly and affecting the entire countries in the region,” says the statement.
It meanwhile emphasizes that on these sensitive and historical days when the ignorant terrorists have become tools in the hands of the Zionist regime and certain other shortsighted circles, aiming at stability, security and territorial integrity of Lebanon, the Islamic Republic stands by the side of the Lebanese government and nation, announcing readiness to take part in campaign to uproot the Takfiri and Zionist terrorists.
The statement says that beyond doubt in campaign against terrorism there is dire need also to take advantage of the whole effective legal measures and decisive decision makings aimed at identification and punishing of the terrorist agents and their supporters and organizers.
The Islamic Republic in the statement’s end expresses hope that the legitimate Lebanese sources would wisely and in shortest possible time deliver the terrorist agents to the courts of justice where they would be held accountable for their ugly and inhumane deeds, and those of their political and spiritual supporters before the regional nations’ public opinion.
The UN General Assembly voted by consensus to approve the “World against Violent Extremism” (WAVE) Act, against all types of terrorism, including state-sponsored terrorism.
Iran’s WAVE Act urges member nations to take “appropriate measures to strengthen universal peace and to achieve international cooperation in solving international problems of an economic, social, cultural, or humanitarian character.”
It also encourages “respect for human rights and for fundamental freedoms for all without distinction of any kind such as to race, color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinions, national or social origin, property, birth, or other status.”
Iran also asks that member states refrain “from the threat or use of force.”
Israel was the lone voice to raise objections to the measure.
