Kish Island, Dec 26, IRNA – Iran and Qatar will hold joint navy drills in the near future, Commander of Iranian Coastguards Brigadier-General Ali Mohammad Salami said on Thursday.
Salami made the remarks on the sidelines of the 11th Iran-Qatar Coastguards Cooperation Meeting.
During the meeting, the two sides signed an agreement, including a joint navy maneuver, Brigadier-General Salami said.
He said that the Iranian Navy agreed to train Qatari coastguard officers on fighting drug trafficking.
The Qatari Coastguard and Border Department’s Director-General Brigadier-General Ali Ahmad Saif al-Bedayd co-chaired the meeting at the head of the Qatari delegation.
