TEHRAN (FNA)- Deputy Head of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO) Morteza Rahmani voiced his organization's readiness to offer more services to the pilgrims who travel to Iranian religious cities.


Rahmani said that the ICHHTO plans to provide standard services to the religious tourists who enter Iran to pilgrimage holy cities, the Islamic republic news agency reported.

Rahmani said that some 1.3 million Iraqi pilgrims visited Iranian cities and religious sites in Iran only in the past eight months of the current Iranian year.

The Iranian official added that a plan for providing required services to the Iraqi pilgrims during their long tour from Western Iran to Eastern parts of the country was discussed in the ICHHTO meeting.

According to the official, Azerbaijan ranks second after Iraq in terms of the number of pilgrims coming to Iran.

Rahmani pointed out that the main destinations of the religious tourists who visit Iran are the three cities of Mashhad, Qom, and Shiraz.
