15 Dec 2013 - 13:17

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Al-Maliki extended his condolences to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani over the Friday terrorist attack on the Iranian technicians working on the Iran-Iraq gas pipeline.

“Maliki in his letter (to President Rouhani) condemned the terrorist act and vowed to punish the criminals (behind the attack),” Iraqi prime minister's media advisor Ali Al-Mousavi said.

Al-Maliki also extended his condolences to the bereaved families of the victims over the mass murder of their beloved ones.

On Friday, masked gunmen shot dead 22 people near the village of Balad Ruz, situated 90 kilometers (55 miles) Northeast of Baghdad.

The assault killed 20 Iranians and two Iraqis.

The victims were working on a pipeline projected to carry natural gas from Iran to its Western neighbor, when they came under attack.
