TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Iran and Russia are closing agreement on building reactor and nuclear power plant.
"There have been good talks over last months between Iran and Russia on the expansion of cooperation between the two countries on building reactor and nuclear power plants and the two countries have got closed on agreement and executive measures," Zarif said in a press conference with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov here in Tehran on Wednesday.
Iran is seeking cooperation with Russia in nuclear technology to provide different sources of energy and use peaceful nuclear achievements in areas, including supplying sweetening water.
He further referred to Russian role in negotiations between Iran and the G5+1 on Iranian nuclear issue, and said, "The role of Russia as one of the important members of G5+1 and Iran's friend is quite considerable. "
Elsewhere, Iranian Foreign Minister said Moscow also did well on preventing a regional crisis and military strike on Syria. "Iran and Russia cooperated well in this area. Regional peace and security will help us in international stability."
Zarif also expressed the hope that Lavrov's trip to Iran would pave the way for the further expansion of constructive and large cooperation between the two sides.
Asked about pursuit of S-300 deal between Iran and Russia, he said, "We still stress implementation of previous agreements. The issue was raised following Russian deputy foreign minister's trip to Iran and the two sides are still in talks."
He further expressed the hope that two sides could settle the issue in an acceptable way.
Lavrov is in Tehran for talks with senior Iranian officials on issues of mutual interests as well as regional and international developments.
