Iran Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani has stressed the importance of close consultation between Iranian and Chinese political and parliamentary officials on regional and international issues.
In a meeting with visiting Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi in Tehran on Sunday, Larijani said historical and cultural relations between the two countries are important for expanding ties.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran regards China as an important country on the Asian continent and in international equations and welcomes any approach that will promote the level of bilateral and international interaction,” the top Iranian lawmaker added.
He stated that senior Iranian and Chinese officials are determined to further improve bilateral cooperation in political, economic and cultural fields.
Tehran and Beijing should draw up precise plans to use their enormous industrial and energy capacities to serve the interests of both nations, Larijani said.
The Chinese official, for his part, said Beijing attaches special significance to cooperation with Iran in all fields. Yang described the outcomes of Larijani’s visit to Beijing as important and productive.
He said the exchange of political and parliamentary delegations between the two countries would lead to a better mutual understanding and accelerate bilateral cooperation.
On October 29, Larijani traveled to Beijing on an official visit to discuss the promotion of parliamentary, political, economic and cultural ties between Iran and China during his meetings with high-ranking Chinese authorities.
