Islamabad, Dec 7, IRNA – Vice Speaker of Iranian Majlis on Saturday said that Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) conference would further enhance Iran-Pakistan bilateral ties and help both countries play their role in consolidating the Asian countries.
Mohammad Hassan Abutorabi-Fard arrived in Pakistani capital, Islamabad, to attend the 6th session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly.
Pakistani Senate Standing Committee Chairman Mushahid Hussain Syed, Iran?s Ambassador to Pakistan Ali Reza Haqiqian and a number of other Pakistani officials s received the vice speaker at Nur Khan air base.
Gholam-Ali Haddad Adel, Director of the Iranian Academy of Persian Language and Literature and some senior Iranian politicians are among members of the delegation.
Talking to IRNA Abutorabi-Fard termed APA as highly crucial and added that Iran has always supported the important political forum. “We hope that the conference would help bring unity, stability and prosperity to Asia,” he said.
He added that Iran and Pakistan enjoy brotherly relations, noting that the APA conference would further strengthen Pakistan-Iran ties.
Abutorabi-Fard called for enhancement of all-out cooperation between parliaments of Iran and Pakistan.
Pakistan is about to hold three-day Asian Parliamentary Assembly in Islamabad from Sunday.
Some 200 delegates including speakers‚ vice speakers and parliamentarians of the member countries‚ will attend the meeting.
The session is being hosted by Senate of Pakistan. Theme of the session is Asian Century: Cooperation in Economy‚ Energy and Environment.
Meanwhile, Haddad Adel would hold meetings with officials of Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission and National University of Modern Languages on the sidelines of the conference.
He is likely to sign MoU with Pakistani National Language Promotion Department. He would visit eastern city of Lahore on Tuesday to hold talks with staff of Punjab University Persian department.
