Tehran, Dec 1, IRNA – Kuwaiti Emir Jaber al-Ahmad al-Jaber as-Sabah on Sunday expressed hope that Iran as an influential regional country will be present in the upcoming international conference due to be held in Geneva to help put an end to Syrian crisis.
In a meeting with visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, the Kuwaiti Emir said that his country welcomes atmosphere of cooperation Iran has created in the region.
He voiced his support for Iranian nuclear program as Iran’s Supreme Leader has issued an edict banning any use of nuclear weapons.
He reiterated that there are no obstacles on the way of expansion of ties between Iran and Kuwait and that bilateral relations will benefit the entire region.
Meanwhile, the Iranian foreign minister conveyed President Hassan Rouhani’s warm greetings to Kuwaiti Emir and invited him to visit Iran on behalf of the president.
Jaber al-Ahmad al-Jaber as-Sabah welcomed the invitation and expressed hope that he would visit Iran at the earliest.
Mohammad Javad Zarif expressed satisfaction with good relations between the two countries and said promotion of ties with regional countries is top priority of Iran’s foreign policy.
He added that Iran regards security of regional countries as its own and the threat posed to them as a threat to itself.
Zarif stressed the need for a political solution to the humanitarian crisis in Syria.
