TEHRAN (FNA)- About 20 ailing Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails threatened to launch an open-ended hunger strike to protest their lack of care.


Palestinian lawyer Hanan al-Khatib said prisoners receiving treatment in Israel’s Ramle hospital are witnessing their health conditions worsen due to neglect, Ma’an reported Monday.

The prisoners, some of whom are paralyzed or suffer from chronic disease, vowed to begin refusing food and medicine starting in December to draw attention to their cases.

"Enough is enough, and we will no longer tolerate the situation in which we live," Riad al-Amour, one of the prisoners, was quoted as saying.

"No one has a clue of what's going on in the hospital," Iyad Radwan, another prisoner, was quoted as saying. "There are people who are painfully suffering and dying every day, and no one cares."

He added that dying by hunger strike would be more honorable than to allow Israel to kill them slowly through the delays in treatment.
