Araqchi: World powers recognize Iran’s uranium enrichment

Geneva, Nov 24, IRNA -- Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister and Iran’s senior negotiator in talks with major world powers Seyyed Abbas Araqchi announced that the Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) have recognized Iran’s uranium enrichment rights.
“Iran’s uranium enrichment agreement was recognized,” Araqchi said.


The Islamic Republic of Iran and the member-states of the Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) eventually reached an agreement after five days of difficult and intensive talks and more than a decade-long standoff.

According to IRNA correspondent from Geneva, the senior officials of Iran and the Group 5+1 have confirmed the agreement.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif announced that Tehran and the six world powers (the US, Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany) have struck a deal here on Sunday.

“Iran and the Group 5+1 (the five permanent members of UN Security Council plus Germany),” Zarif said on his tweeter page.

Meantime, EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton confirmed the news and told IRNA that the two sided have reached an agreement.

French and British foreign ministers Laurent Fabius and William Hague have also confirmed agreement.

The agreement was reached after five days of difficult and intensive talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 in Geneva and after a decade-long standoff between the two sides.
