Iran, P5+1 begin nuclear talks; Iran, US to have bilateral session

TEHRAN, Nov. 20 (MNA) – Second round of third Genève Iran-Powers nuclear talks has begun in UN European headquarters.
Mehr News correspondent in Genève reports that Javad Zarif and Catherine Ashton attended the opening session, posing in a photo.


In a launch working session, Zarif and Ashton discussed the method to negotiate in the main text. The main session will be bilateral and multilateral, and it is possible Iran and the US will have bilateral talks. Bilateral talks will be in deputy level.

Mohammad Javad Zarif heads Iran’s negotiating team. Seyed Abbas Araghchi, his deputy for Legal and International Affairs, Majid Takht Ravanchi, his EU and Asia deputy, Hamid Badiinejad, the head of foreign ministry political office and Amiri is the representative of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization in the talks.

Mohammad Javad Zarif met the press after a working launch session with Catherine Ashton. “We had a good discussion on how to continue the negotiations. We agreed to have a short session in the evening and then to begin bilateral sessions with Powers.
Asked if the Powers came with the prior text or there was a new text, Zarif told that there was no new text. “Currently, we are on the way to continue the talks. Asked to what extent it was possible that foreign ministers come to Genève, he responded that he was not one to decide on that, and that “ currently, we are talking on the subject matter,” in response to question that if Iran would insist on prior text.
