TEHRAN, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) --A commander of Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has warned Israel against any military attack on the Islamic republic.
Brigadier General Masoud Jazayeri said that Israel’s time of death will arrive with the firing of the first shot at Iran, Tehran Times daily reported on Tuesday.
“The regime occupying al-Quds (Jerusalem) not only does not have the potential to take military action against our country but also is well aware that it will cause its quick death with firing the first shot at Iran,” Jazayeri was quoted as saying on Monday in response to recent threatening remarks made by Israeli officials against the Islamic republic.
The latest assessments of the situation in the United States and Israel clearly illustrate the fact that the enemy is not able to take any military action against Iran, said Jazayeri.
“All the occupied territories (by Israel) and all illegitimate interests of the United States in the region are within range. And within the framework of (Iran’s) doctrine of threat against threat, after any possible aggression, pre-planned scenarios to give a firm and wide-range response to the enemy will be played out,” the daily quoted him as saying.
Israel has brandished the threat of possible military action against Iran’s nuclear sites, while the United States is in favor of economic sanctions and diplomacy but has not ruled out the military option.
The United States and its Western allies believe Iran is working toward a nuclear weapon capability. Tehran denies that, saying its atomic program is “peaceful.”
