TEHRAN (FNA)- Indonesian Parliament Speaker Marzouqi Ali is slated to pay an official visit to Tehran on Tuesday.
Iranian Parliament Speaker’s advisor for international affairs Hossein Sheikholeslam said that an Indonesian parliamentary delegation, to be headed by Ali, will depart for Tehran on November 19, at the invitation of the Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani.
"During his 2-day stay in Tehran, the Indonesian top parliamentarian is scheduled to hold meetings with senior Iranian officials and parliamentarians, particularly Parliament Speaker (Ali Larijani) and Chairman of the Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi," he added.
Sheikholeslam pointed out that during the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21), a delegation from the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission and another one from the Parliament's Councils and Internal Affairs Commission have visited Jakarta to confer with their Indonesian counterparts on the further expansion of parliamentary interactions between the two friendly nations.
In September, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Indonesian counterpart Raden Mohammad Marty Muliana Natalegawa hailed the existing bilateral relations between the two friendly nations, and stressed the need for broadening the two states' mutual cooperation in all arenas.
In a meeting on the sidelines of the 68th annual session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the Iranian and Indonesian foreign ministers underlined the importance of bolstering bilateral ties between Tehran and Jakarta.
Iranian and Indonesian officials have on many occasions stressed their resolve to expand bilateral relations and mutual cooperation in different fields.
