Kia-Rostami wins Japanese badge of honor

Tehran, Nov 3, IRNA – Noted Iranian film director Abbas Kia-Rostami won the Japanese government’s badge of honor in recognition of his valuable services and his contribution to boost cultural exchanges and mutual understanding between Iran and Japan.
Badge of honor ‘Kyokujitsu shoujusho’ was awarded to Kia-Rostami at the Japanese Embassy in Tehran for enhancing the level of film production in Japan which led to promoting Japanese culture across the world, including Iran, through cultural activities.

His film ‘Like Someone in Love’ was screened in The Cannes Film Festival.

The badge of honor was presented to 49 foreign nationals that Kia-Rostami won the same in the field of arts.

Kia-Rostami is an internationally acclaimed Iranian film director, screenwriter, photographer and film producer.

His works include ‘Close-Up’ (1990), ‘Taste of Cherry’ (1997), and ‘The Wind Will Carry Us’ (1999).

In his recent films, ‘Certified Copy’ (2010) and ‘Like Someone in Love’ (2012), he filmed for the first time outside Iran, in Italy and Japan respectively.
