Commander: Iran ready to train pilots for Russian air force

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Iranian Air Force is ready to train pilots for the Russian air force academy, a senior commander announced on Sunday.


Lieutenant Commander of the Iranian Air Force Brigadier General Alireza Barkhor made the announcement to the reporters on the sidelines of a meeting between Iranian Air Force Commander Brigadier General Hassan Shah Safi and his Russian counterpart Lieutenant General Viktor Bondarev.

He pointed to the meeting between the two top commanders, and said during the meeting “the Iranian Air Force commander has expressed Iran’s readiness to train Russian pilot students”.

General Barkhor said that the Iranian and Russian commanders also discussed exchange of pilot trainee students.

“The Iranian Air Force commander had invited the Russian air force commander to pay a visit to Iran when he was attending the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Russian Federation’s air force earlier this year,” General Barkhor explained.

“The Russian commander and his accompanying delegation are also due to visit Shahid Sattari Aviation Science and Technology University, Mehrabad’s Shahid Lashkari Air Force Base and Isfahan’s Shahid Babaee Air Force Base,” the lieutenant commander of the Iranian air force added.

The Russian air force commander arrived in the Iranian capital at the head of a military delegation earlier today.

Lieutenant General Bondarev is also scheduled to meet Commander of Khatam ol-Anbia Air Defense Base Brigadier General Farzad Esmayeeli and Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh in Tehran today.
