TEHRAN (FNA)- The Iranian delegation, headed by President Rouhani, achieved such a major success in the 68th UN General Assembly meeting in New York last week that it has caused fury in Tel Aviv, Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour said.
"Dr. Rouhani's address to the UN received the attention of the world countries and left a very positive influence on his global audience," Mansour said at a meeting with Iran's Ambassador to Beirut Qazanfar Roknabadi on Friday.
The Lebanese minister said Iran and the Syrian developments were under the spotlight at the UN meeting, and underlined that Iran's diplomatic apparatus could achieve a major success in New York.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran could achieve a major victory in its foreign policy and this has roused the Zionist regime's fury so much that the Zionist regime's Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, allocated a main part of his UN speech to Iran's nuclear issue," Mansour said.
He noted Iran's unique position and constructive role in the settlement of the regional and global problems, and stated, "Now the European states and the West have come to realize this reality that settlement of the regional countries' problems without Iran's positive role is impossible."
The Lebanese foreign minister noted the Syrian crisis and stressed that it needs a political solution.
He hoped for the rapid arrangement of the Geneva II conference on Syria in a bid to find a political solution to the country's crisis, and stressed the need for Iran's participation in the conference, given its unique status in the region and the world.
