Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Affairs, Rasoul Mohajer, emphasized the need for greater collaboration among Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) member states to boost economic exchanges.
According to The Iran Project, Speaking at the ECO deputy foreign ministers' meeting held at the organization’s secretariat in Tehran on Monday, Mohajer highlighted that the total trade volume between ECO members and the rest of the world amounts to one trillion dollars.
However, he noted that only seven percent of this trade occurs among ECO nations, stressing the need for improvement.
Kazakhstan’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Alibek Bakayev, who currently serves as ECO secretary general, also addressed the gathering.
ECO, comprising Afghanistan, Azerbaijan Republic, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, and Uzbekistan, aims to enhance regional trade and economic development. The region boasts significant potential for cooperation in sectors such as energy, trade, and transport.
