Special forces of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and the Republic of Azerbaijan’s Army have launched a joint military exercise at the common border.
According to The Iran Project, the war game, codenamed “Aras 2024”, kicked off on Sunday evening and will continue for four days in the border areas in Iran’s northwestern province of Ardebil.
The IRGC Ground Force’s public relations office said the purpose of the drill is to strengthen the bilateral relations, promote cooperation in the fight against armed and illegal organized groups, ensure the security of the common border, improve the military capabilities, and enhance defense cooperation at the tactical and operational levels according to the previous agreements.
An Azeri military delegation has traveled to Iran’s Ardebil Province to observe the joint war game.
