Rohani to open new political chapter: Iran Judiciary chief

5 Aug 2013 - 9:29

Iran Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani says the inauguration of President Hassan Rohani has opened a new chapter in the political management of the Islamic Republic.
Addressing participants in the swearing-in ceremony of Rohani on Sunday, Amoli Larijani expressed hope that the new administration will elevate the position of the Islamic Republic through cooperation and constructive interaction with all branches of the government.

Iran’s Judiciary chief further hailed the mass participation of the Iranian nation in the June 14 presidential election as a "political epic."
Amoli Larijani pointed to US-led sanctions against Iran, saying, “Today, the country is facing special conditions and the cruel sanctions have caused problems for [Iranian] families; however, we will leave behind these problems with the resolve of the people and the prudence of officials.”
Delegations from over 50 countries attended Rohani’s inauguration ceremony. Among the foreign dignitaries present were 10 presidents, six vice-presidents, two prime ministers, eight parliament speakers as well as several prominent former officials.

On Saturday, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei formally endorsed Rohani for a four-year term in office.
