Iranian intelligence forces have identified and arrested two teams associated with a notorious terrorist group as they were seeking to carry out terrorist and destabilizing activities in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan.
According to The Iran Project, Iranian news outlets said on Monday that the arrested individuals are affiliated with the so-called Jaish al-Adl group, referring to the location of the arrests as the province’s Rask and Sarbaz Counties.
The operation succeeded following persistent surveillance and offensive efforts by the intelligence forces, who were being supported by provincial law enforcement forces.
Those who were arrested had sought to deploy firearms and explosives towards conducting terrorist activities and sowing insecurity in the province.
Their arms caches were also discovered and confiscated in the operation.
In early October, the terror group killed at least six people, including a local commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) and two police forces, during two separate terrorist attacks in Sistan and Baluchestan.
Later, Iranian security forces arrested two terrorists involved in the shooting attack that had claimed the lives of the security forces.
