President Pezeshkian meets top Iraqi judicial official

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has met with the head of Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council in Baghdad where he arrived on Wednesday morning on his first foreign visit since taking office.


According to The Iran Project, Pezeshkian held talks with Faeq Zaidan later in the day, following meetings with other top Iraqi officials including Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani and President Abdul Latif Rashid.

The Iranian president, who is heading a high-ranking political and economic delegation, also met with Ammar al-Hakim, head of the National Wisdom Movement and members of the Coordination Framework, an umbrella bloc of Iraqi Shia parties.



Hakim, who hosted Pezeshkian and his accompanying delegation in the presence of Prime Minister al-Sudani, appreciated the message of Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei to the people of Iraq for successfully hosting the Arbaeen processions.

While emphasizing the depth of Iraq-Iran relations and the type of cultural, political, economic and geographical commonalities they enjoy, Hakim said that Pezeshkian’s visit will further advance many projects in line with the interests of the two countries.

The leader of the National Wisdom Movement pointed to Iraq’s stability at the security, political and social levels as well as people's satisfaction with the performance of the current government.
