Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri vowed that Israel will regret the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, stating that the method of retaliation is under review.
According to The Iran Project, "The way the Axis of Resistance and we will seek justice for the martyrdom of Haniyeh is under review. Various actions must be taken, and the Zionists will undoubtedly regret it," Major General Baqeri said on the sidelines of the funeral ceremony for Martyr Ismail Haniyeh.
"This will definitely happen. Various actions must be taken, and the Zionists will certainly regret it," he emphasized.
Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of Hamas, who had traveled to Iran to attend the inauguration ceremony of President Masoud Pezeshkian, was assassinated at his residence in Tehran on the early morning of Wednesday, along with one of his guards.
Pezeshkian and Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei also promised retaliation, with Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei saying that the “criminal and terrorist Zionist regime” would face “severe punishment” and emphasizing Iran’s duty to avenge the blood of the Hamas leader.
