Iran Hannaneh music ensemble performs concert in Konya

Traditional Iranian music ensemble, Hannaneh, has performed concert in the Turkish city of Konya where the tomb of Persian poet Mowlavi is located.
The ensemble led by Kamran Hemmatpour presented its program in two sections on July 30.

A group of Tanbour virtuosos went on the stage and performed some pieces during the first section to introduce a part of Iran’s classical music.

Classical music section of the program was mainly inspired by the poems of the ancient Iranian poet, Mowlavi.

Jalal ad-Din Mohammad Balkhi, known Mowlavi in Persian, was a poet, mystic and theologian.

Mowlavi who is also known as Rumi in Western countries, was born in Balkh (now part of Afghanistan) and passed away in Konya, Turkey, where he was laid to rest.

The second section of the program dedicated some folksongs from the country’s various regions such as Khorasan, Azarbaijan and Kermanshah.

Nasser Kaveh, Hassan Kadkhodaeinia, Asieh Ahmadi and Farid Qasemi are among the members of the ensemble accompanied Hemmatpour who is the group’s vocalist as well.

Furthermore, the Iranian vocalist Sirus Maleki also collaborated with the group at the performance in Konya.

Hannaneh ensemble has held several concerts in foreign countries such as Tatarstan and Russian capital city of Moscow.
