The Iranian Foreign Ministry denounced the sections of a recent statement by the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) of Ministers regarding the three Iranian islands, Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, and the Arash oil and gas field.
According to The Iran Project, in a statement on Monday, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani slammed as “unconstructive and futile” certain contents of the PGCC statement issued at the conclusion of the 160th session of the PGCC Ministerial Council meeting in Doha.
Rejecting the PGCC statement’s claim on the three islands of Abu Musa, Greater Tunb, and Lesser Tunb, Kanaani described them as an inseparable and eternal part of the soil of Iran.
Iran condemns any claim on those three islands and considers any comment in this regard as interference in its internal and territorial affairs, he underlined.
On the PGCC’s stance on Iran’s nuclear activities, the spokesman said the “baseless comments” about Iran’s peaceful nuclear program are worthless, since Tehran has always remained committed to the international rules and its undertakings.
Kanaani further dismissed Kuwait’s one-sided stances about the Arash gas field, emphasizing that the rehash of such statements and claims have no legal value and would not entitle Kuwait to any right.
The spokesman underlined that Iran’s strategic policies entail the settlement of regional problems on the basis of interaction with the neighbors, saying Tehran welcomes constructive initiatives for the enhancement of relations and multilateral cooperation.
