The northwestern Iranian city of Tabriz, the provincial capital of East Azarbaijan, where Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his delegation lost their lives in a helicopter crash, and the central city of Qom will host a funeral ceremony on Tuesday.

According to The Iran Project, President Raisi and his entourage, including Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollhian, were returning from an event on the border with Azerbaijan to inaugurate a dam project on Sunday, when their helicopter crashed in harsh weather conditions over mountainous terrain of Iran’s northwest.

Dozens of emergency rescue teams were dispatched to the mountainous area in northwestern Iran’s East Azerbaijan province, where the accident occurred Sunday afternoon.
