Iran taekwondo clinches Asian championships title

The Iranian men's national taekwondo team won 7 medals, including three gold, two silver and two bronze medals to become champions at the Asian Taekwondo Championships on Saturday.


According to The Iran Project, On the final day of the Asian Taekwondo Championship in Vietnam on Saturday, taekwondo player Arian Salimi from Iran won a gold medal in the +87 kg  weight category after beating a South Korean practitioner.

Also, today,  Ali Khoshravesh in the -80kg weight class lost to his opponent from Uzbekistan and stood in second place. He had advanced to the final match after defeating rivals from Chinese Taipei, Uzbekistan and Jordan.

With the two gold and silver medals bagged by Arian Salimi and Khoshravesh on the final day of the competitions, the medal tally of the Iranian taekwondo team in the Asian Championships reached 7 medals, including 3 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze.

With a total of 7 medals, Iran's national men's Taekwondo team won the Asian championship after eight years. South Korea, Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia were ranked second to fourth in this competition held in Vietnam.

The 2024 Asian Taekwondo Championships were the 26th edition of the Asian Taekwondo Championships, and were held from 16 to 18 May 2024 in Tiên Sơn Sports Palace, Da Nang, Vietnam.
