The new Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris has called once again for recognizing Palestine as an independent state.

According to The Iran Project,Ireland believes that “reason has now been replaced by revenge,” CNN quoted Harris on Tuesday evening as saying in an interview.

"I want to see the EU use every lever at its disposal to exert the maximum amount of pressure to bring about a ceasefire," he said.

This involves "like-minded countries coming together to recognize the state of Palestine," he added.

The Israeli regime has criticized Ireland for its stance on Palestine and the war in Gaza, saying Dublin is on the “wrong side.”

Since the start of the war in Gaza in October 2023, nearly 34,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed in the enclave.

Many world leaders, figures and personalities have condemned the regime’s genocidal war on Gaza and called for an immediate truce in the strip.

In a related development, the International Committee of the Red Cross has criticized the long-term period of torture against the Palestinian detainees.
