Iran’s deputy permanent representative to the UN Office and other International Organizations in Geneva has called on the International Labour Organization (ILO) to fulfill its duties toward Palestinian workers in Gaza and the occupied territories and play its part to help bring an end to the Israeli genocide in Gaza.
According to The Iran Project,Mehdi Aliabadi made the comment on Wednesday in his address to the 350th session of the ILO Governing Body, which is held from March 4 to 14 in Geneva, Switzerland.
He said that the ILO, as a specialized agency of the United Nations, is tasked with promoting social justice and supporting the rights of workers across the world.
This organization should fulfill its duties towards Palestinian workers, and as part of the UN, should play its part in implementing a ruling by the International Court of Justice to stop the genocide in Gaza, he added.
The Iranian envoy meanwhile criticized the international community, especially the UN Security Council, for its inaction to stop the genocide in Gaza, blaming the inaction for the continued crimes of the Israeli regime against Palestinians in the besieged territory.
