Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi has said that mosques across Islamic countries should raise awareness on the plight of Palestinians in Gaza, which he said is the main issue of the Islamic world and humanity.
According to The Iran Project,“Today, raising awareness on [the situation of] innocent Palestinian Muslims in Gaza, as the main issue of the Islamic world as well as humanity across the world, should be among activities of mosques across Islamic lands”, the Iranian president said on Saturday evening as he toured the Great Mosque of Algiers, the capital city of Algeria.
He also said that Iran and Algeria share a common stance on the Palestinian issue, adding that if all Islamic countries had a united stance on the issue, the Israeli regime would not have dared commit crimes against Palestinians.
Raisi meanwhile referred to unity among Muslim countries, calling it the most important need of the Islamic world, and announced Iran’s readiness to expand cultural cooperation with Algeria as part of efforts to help forge that unity.
The Iranian president was accompanied by Algerian National Education Minister Abdelhakim Belabed during his tour of the Great Mosque of Algiers, which is the largest in Africa and the third biggest mosque in the world.
Raisi visited the mosque as part of his schedule in Algiers where he attended the 7th Summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) on Saturday. He arrived there on the same day for a two-day trip.
