Ali Pakdaman from Iran claimed a silver medal in the Georgia world fencing competitions after being defeated against the number two in world rankings in the final on Saturday.
According to The Iran Project,Pakdaman lost to sabre fencer Áron Szilágyi of Hungaria in the final 7-15 on Saturday.
This was Iran's first silver medal in fencing at this high level of the fencing competition.
Before today's match, the Iranian fencer was the seventh in the world ranking seed.
